I think these Speak Out writers are far off the mark concerning Jesus.
Jesus was against breaking the law. People who are here without papers are lawbreakers. They are not to be rewarded because they deliberately broke the law. Even in this economy, especially in Alabama, you can get a job if you want one.
This was a land of opportunity when I was young. The fact that I and others didn’t save money to take care of ourselves in our old age should not be blamed on the state Legislature. A lot of our sickness is caused by our own obesity.
It never ceases to amaze me that the poor are often the fattest among us. The poor are often children of drug addicts. Of course, the children cannot help it, but it is impossible to help the children without removing them from the home, and for some reason society frowns on that. Maybe the Legislature should step in and take the children out of this environment.
To use God in these letters shows how Democrats can quote Scripture without conscience. Democrats, because of Roe vs. Wade, have killed 300 million babies. Democrats want to give people gay rights; they want to let same-sex couples marry. They want to give people handouts but not give them a job.
Jesus said if you do not work, you do not deserve to eat. He says do not commit murder. That’s why I cannot believe anyone can vote Democrat and claim to be a Christian. It just doesn’t fit God’s plan or his Word.
If we in Alabama do not return to God’s plan for us, how can we expect the churches or government to take up the slack? I am afraid God is leaving Alabama and he has already abandoned some states. Wake up, Alabama, and realize that God is leaving Alabama and we don’t have to let it happen.
