UDC holds ceremony to honor 10 veterans for their services

A ceremony was held by the Major General Patrick R. Cleburne Chapter, UDC at the Public Library of Anniston-Calhoun County with about 50 UDC members and guests present to honor 10 veterans for not only their military service, but also the service of their Confederate ancestor. Six of those veterans were posthumously accepted by a family member. Veterans honored were Aaron Jackson, World War II; Glyn Allen Howell, Korean War; James Elmer Hibbitts and Jerry Wayne Vice, Vietnam Conflict. Posthumous awards were: Othen H. Jackson, World War II and L.J. Jackson, Korean War, accepted by their sister Charlisie Pollard; William Oswald Chappell, World War II, accepted by his daughter Teresa Blanton; Joseph Bradford Morrison, World War II and Korean War, accepted by his niece Carolyn Skinner; Douglas Charles Adcock, Korean War, accepted by his daughter Dyan Gleason; Robert Jefferson Teague, Korean War, accepted by his wife Margaret Teague McGuire.
