Local student wins national video contest

Solomon Shadrix of White Plains High School recently won a $500 scholarship for his video submission to the National x2VOL video contest. His video mixes photographs with compelling messages reminding people to step beyond feeling sorry for others affected by tragedy and to get out and volunteer. His images of the terrorist bombing of the World Trade Center are a vivid reminder that communities heal by the personal gifts of time and caring.
