Investigators Tuesday were searching for a 36-year-old Anniston man suspected of assaulting a female acquaintance early Monday morning.

The 20-year-old Anniston woman filed an assault report with police Monday, stating that around 5:45 that morning, the male friend of hers struck her in the face and repeatedly pulled her hair during an argument.

Sgt. Fred Forsythe said the woman was getting a ride from the suspect when they began to argue. When they arrived at a residence in the 700 block of Blue Ridge Drive, the man began to hit the woman in the face and pull her head back by the hair, investigators said.

It was unclear what the acquaintances were arguing about or whether the house where the assault occurred belonged to either the victim or the suspect.

No arrests had been made Tuesday, because investigators were still investigating the case, Forsythe said.

The woman was not seriously injured during the assault, Forsythe said.
