The new messaging campaign from President Obama, as of July 12, was to threaten Social Security by claiming that if the debt impasse is not overcome, the elderly might not receive their Social Security checks come Aug. 3.

Way to go, Obama. When all else fails, terrorize the elderly. But wait, while we are on the subject, let’s not pay our veterans either. Will someone please tell Obama who fought for America’s freedom — our veterans, most of whom are now senior citizens.

Their only means of support comes from Social Security checks and their veterans checks. If you take this away, who will buy their food and pay for their medicine and utilities? It’s strange that our government can come up with billions to aid other countries in need and overlook the need that is right under its nose at home in the United States.

Our government can give illegal immigrants food stamps and allow them to have jobs that our unemployed should have, plus medical care and housing, until our government is sure they can survive on their own. But the government can forget about our elderly who have worked hard all their lives for this country and the veterans who fought for her, and instead take care of the ones who can’t even speak English and need that money.
