Piano students of Dr. Susie Francis Dempsey of Jacksonville presented their spring piano recital May 22 at the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville. They performed three musical numbers prior to the awarding of some special honors. Those attending the Alabama Music Teachers Association auditions in the spring included Shea O’Donnell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randy O’Donnell; Erin Dempsey, daughter of the Drs. David and Heidi Dempsey; and Kyle Coleman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joey Coleman of Glencoe. Kyle Coleman was recognized with an “outstanding” rating at the state auditions. These students were adjudicated in their performances of three memorized piano pieces as well as their demonstration of music theory knowledge at the keyboard.

Two beginning students, Bailey Davis and Hannah Grace Weathers, shared recognition as the “Piano Student of the Year” by Dr. Dempsey for their “Outstanding Advancement in Piano.” They are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Davis and the Rev. and Mrs. Carlton Weathers, respectively. Other students in the recital were Maddie Averette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Averette; Daniel Dempsey, son of the Drs. David and Heidi Dempsey; James Gavino, son of the Drs. Joy and Rey Gavino; and Justin Westley, son of Dr. and Mrs. Chris Westley.
