Each year, Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center holds a reception for all its nurses to express appreciation of their service and dedication to caring for the patients of our community.

On May 11, RMC announced Michelle Taylor, RN as this year’s winner of the Pursuit of Excellence in Nursing Award. Michelle has worked for 24 years as a nurse in RMC’s Intensive Care Unit. She was chosen from a pool of many candidates and nominated by 14 of her co-workers as well as two ICU physicians. Each of them wrote an outstanding nomination form.

Just a few of the kind words included: “Michelle leads by example and delivers superior patient care with compassion.” And “Michelle is a wonderful charge nurse and goes out of her way to take care of patients and assist and educate the nurses she works with and she always has a ‘can-do’ attitude.”

Michelle was surprised by the nomination, and her family was there to witness the ceremony and award. She was appreciative, stating “I could not have gotten this award without the hard work of everyone that I work with each day in the ICU; we are truly a family.”
