Anniston police Friday were investigating more than 30 criminal mischief incidents that occurred in the Saks area early that morning and late Thursday evening.

Officers on Friday morning discovered a series of slashed tires and broken windows at homes, apartments and businesses throughout Saks.

Lt. Rocky Stemen said police fielded at least 39 such reports Friday morning and have few leads on suspects.

“There were sliced tires, rocks through windows, several cars damaged,” Stemen said.

Among the places vandalized were McChristies Restaurant off U.S. 431, Colonial Park Apartments along Sprague Avenue and cars in its parking lot, as well as cars in driveways along Lenlock Lane.

Investigators think that several people probably spent much of Thursday night traveling around Saks performing the crimes, which police described as “more than pranks.”

People with information about the crimes should contact the investigative division at the Anniston Police Department at 256-240-4000.
