Kindergarten registrations open around county

The St. Clair County Board of Education recently announced kindergarten registration times for the 2014-2015 school year. Students whose fifth birthday is on or before Sept. 2, shall be entitled, based on age, to public kindergarten admission. 

The schedule is as follows:

Ashville Elementary School – May 15, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Odenville Elementary School – May 8, 7 a.m.-6 p.m.

Margaret Elementary School – May 3, 9 a.m.-noon; May 6, 4 p.m.-6 p.m.; May 8, 4 p.m.-6 p.m.

Moody Elementary School – April 8-9, 8:30 p.m.-6 p.m.; May 13 make-up day, 8:30 am.-2 p.m.

Springville Elementary School – April 24, Roundup day starts at 9 a.m.; May 1, 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

Steele Jr. High School – April 16, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Ragland School – April 7-11, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. April 9, open until 5 p.m.

All children enrolling in the St. Clair County School System must register and attend the school that serves the attendance zone where they reside. These registration times include any children with special needs who would require special education services.

The following items are required at the time of enrollment: original birth certificate; original social security card; certificate of immunization (blue slip). All shots must be current in order to register; contact a doctor or the St. Clair County Health Department (205-338-3357) prior to registration.

Schools will require proof of residence by any of the following: a current utility bill (e.g., electric or water) showing the student’s parent(s), guardian(s), and custodian(s) by name and street address; court ordered guardianship or custodial papers (if applicable); and parent/guardian driver license.

Registration forms are available at www.stclaircountyschools.net under Students/ Student Forms. All information is required before students can be placed in a class and these items need to be on file before school starts.
