Residents at Ashville’s Health Care Inc. traveled west recently. The Nursing Home Week theme this year was “Viva Las Vegas.” Activity director Kelli Smith said the residents had a blast.

“Our motto was ‘what happens during Nursing Home Week.... stays in Nursing Home Week,’” Smith said. “We made memories that will forever stay in our hearts.”

Smith said they brought the Vegas style card and casino games to the nursing home residents and even brought them star-studded entertainment from master illusionist, Matt Adams; Little Elvis Danny Frazier; and the comic styling of D.T. Owens.

“We are very grateful to our sponsors who help make our events possible,” Smith said. “A special thank you to students from Ashville Middle School who presented our residents with a new Bingo set during the festivities.

“The kids’ generosity and kindness means more than they will ever know. Viva Las Vegas Nursing Home Week was by far the best this year. Next year’s Nursing Home Week is going to be hard to beat. How can you top Vegas? I don’t know, but I can’t wait to try.”
