The Leeds Arts Council, Inc. presents Shrek the Musical at the Leeds Theatre and Arts Center.

Performance times are Fridays, July 11, 18 and 25 at 7 p.m.; Saturdays, July 12, 19 and 26 at 7 p.m.; and Sundays, July 13, 20 and 27 at 2 p.m.

Shrek the Musical, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, will bring the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue the feisty Princess Fionna. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek.

Full of all-new songs, great dancing, and scenery, Shrek the Musical is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 years of age and under, and the director is Cliff Keen Jr.

Shrek Swamp Parties for children 12 and under will be held on Saturdays, July 12, 19 and 26 at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10. It will feature Swamp Food and a meet & greet with characters from the musical.
