The St. Clair County Board of Education and the Alabama Office of School Readiness, with the support of the Alabama Department of Education, announced last week that an expansion in Pre-K classrooms will include Margaret Elementary for 2014-2015.
Other elementary schools that have Pre-K programs include Odenville Elementary, Moody Elementary, Springville Elementary and Ragland Elementary.
Applicants must be 4 years old by Sept. 1 and reside within the state of Alabama. A random selection drawing to determine the final class roster will be held at Margaret Elementary School on June 12 at 6 p.m. in the library. Doors close at 6 p.m.
Officials will draw 16 students for each program, and after assessing the individual needs of the 16, will add the next student one by one for the final class roster of 18, as well as a waiting list. The timetable allows time to guarantee required services will be in place to meet the needs of all students.
Registration packets for next year’s 2014-2015 Pre-K classroom are available at the St. Clair Board of Education and at sccboe.org.
Applications must be turned in by Thursday, June 12, to the Margaret Elementary School or St. Clair County Board of Education. The fax number is 205-594-4441 and faxes should be to the attention of Jan Darnell-Bailey.
The tuition for the class will be $25 per week plus cost of lunch if applicable. The hours of the Pre-K programs will be from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Pre-K students are not eligible to ride a school bus with different age students, and parents or guardians are responsible for transportation to and from school.
Parents or legal guardians must be present and must bring a copy of parent’s driver’s license, child’s social security card, birth certificate and proof of residence in Alabama to the lottery, because a short orientation will follow immediately after the lottery for the parents of the students that are drawn for the class.
If you have any questions please call Darnell-Bailey at 205-594-7131, Ext. 2215 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
