SYLACAUGA -- The Police Department has arrested Michael Wade Bevels, 21, on five counts of third-degree burglary.

Bevels, of Sylacauga, has been charged in connection with the burglary and theft at Sylacauga Small Engine Repair on West Fort Williams Street, where numerous ATVs and motorcycles were taken. Many of the items stolen have been recovered, and Sylacauga police investigators are still actively working to recover the remaining vehicles.

Bevels was also charged in connection with the burglary and theft at Sunshine Laundry on Old Birmingham Highway.

Both businesses were burglarized multiple times.

Bevels is being held in Talladega County Jail awaiting a bond hearing. He is a suspect in other burglaries in the city, and investigators will continue to work on any other cases that he may have been involved in, police Chief Kelley Johnson said.
