SYLACAUGA -- Family and friends of a Sylacauga woman were starting to accept the news Thursday that a loved one was gone.
A two-vehicle crash Wednesday claimed the life of 32-year-old Latonya Chrystal Annette Boone, who was killed late Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash.
The accident happened at 11:35 p.m. on Alabama 21 about two miles north of Sylacauga, according to an Alabama State Trooper press release.
The 2003 Ford Taurus that Boone was driving collided with a 2014 Toyota Corolla driven by Ashelea Jonelle McCain, 26, also of Sylacauga, the release said.
Both vehicles left the roadway, and Boone’s Taurus struck a tree. McCain was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center for her injuries, the release said.
Boone, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“I pray that we can be strong for each other and especially for those four young girls LaTonya Boone leaves behind,” one relative posted on Boone’s Facebook page.
Another lengthy post said in part: “You were my friend, my sister, my ear when I wanted to rant, my amen choir when I needed someone to have my back. You were a reflection of me sometimes when I needed to have a reality check even though I knew the answer just didn’t want to hear it. You were an auntie to my babies. As I am an aunt to yours. You prayed for me too many times to count. Our fight may not have been the same but we always had each other’s backs ready to tag the other in on lifes issues. You're gone now. And I don’t know how exactly to deal with it. … My heart stopped while I was at work when I got that phone call. God has you now. ... I know I’m not supposed to question him and you would be heated now if you could hear me. But Jesus WHYYYYYYY???..... Your smile and your encouragement to always strive for that next ladder rung (leg as you said) are only mustard seeds of what I will miss of you. I love you sissy pooh! And like we always said about our (tattoos), my next two go to my most recent angels! REST EASY BABY GIRL! You will NEVER be forgotten or unloved!”
Another reads “Sitting here, can't stop crying, I lost a good friend and family member. LaTonya Boone, u will be greatly missed, our little conversation about God I will truly miss. But he makes no mistakes, u r with him now, may u rest in his arm's, sweet girl.”
