TALLADEGA -- A Talladega woman has been arrested on a charge of felony theft in connection with an incident reported in February.

Jamie Nicole Parnell, 30, was found by Talladega police on Sunday morning unconscious in a car in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly on Battle Street. A male subject was also in the car passed out, according to Capt. Leon Thomas.

The male woke up and became very loud, boisterous and profane, and was arrested for disorderly conduct, Thomas said.

Parnell could not be roused right away and was transported to Brookwood Baptist Health/Citizens Baptist Medical Center, Thomas said. She was discharged later the same day and served with a theft warrant.

The theft warrant stemmed from an incident at M-Tek on Valentine’s Day, Thomas said. Parnell is accused of a stealing a purse containing $1,400 from an employee there, Thomas said.

Bond on the theft of property in the third degree warrant was set at $5,000. Theft of property in the third degree is a class D felony in Alabama, punishable upon conviction by up to five years in prison.

Disorderly conduct is a misdemeanor. The Daily Home does not generally publish the names of people who are charged only with misdemeanor offenses.
