TALLADEGA -- The Talladega Fire Department responded to nine calls this week, most of which turned out to be false alarms or calls canceled while firefighters were in route.

The first call of the week was to an accidental alarm Saturday at Honeysuckle Ridge Road.

The following day, the first call was to an accident with no injuries on Alabama 34, which was canceled en route. On Sept. 20, firefighters responded to a call at City Hall involving someone dropping a lit cigarette into a potted plant, which began to smolder. The plant was quickly extinguished.

The first call Sept. 21 was for a woman on Booker Street who had locked herself out of her house, followed by a false alarm from the President’s House at Talladega College. The last three calls of the week were all false alarms at Stemley Head Start.
