Prep teams kick off season

Members of the Pell City Panthers football team run through a banner at Pete Rich Stadium Friday evening to open the 2014 high school football season. A handful of games were held Thursday night, but on Friday, with a heat alert in effect at the end of a sweltering day, games were held all over Alabama. Pell City and the Walker Vikings were tied 0-0 at the half, but the Panthers came out on top 17-14. For all your prep football coverage this year, read The Daily Home!
