Tickets are available now for Coosa Valley Medical Center’s third annual Men’s Health Event, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 14, at J. Craig Smith Community Center featuring legendary Florida State University coach Bobby Bowden as guest speaker.
“We’re excited to bring him to town, but we’re equally excited to bring men’s health topics and screenings to our community,” said Vanessa Green, CVMC chief business development officer. “The Men’s Health Event has been a huge success for the last two years, but the point is to make sure the men in our community make their health a priority.”
Health screenings at the event will include height and weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, sleep disorder screening, prostate screening and body mass index, and information will be provided on depression screening, fitness and wellness, rehabilitation and sports medicine, orthopedic care, the senior behavioral unit and cardiac care.
“In the last couple of years there have been some health issues identified that may not otherwise have been found,” Green said. “This event helped start those men on their journeys to wellness and health.”
Medical staff will be available for consultations at the event, which will include a “pregame” meal of tailgate fare from 5 to 6 p.m. during the health fair, and dinner and comments from Bowden beginning at 6, followed by an autograph session.
Tickets are $15 and tables of eight are $125, and Green encourages all men including individuals, families, business groups and Sunday school groups to attend.
