A Talladega woman is facing felony charges after presenting a fake check to Aaron’s Rent to Own back in May.

According to Talladega Police Chief Jason Busby, Martha Joyce Tillman, 68, of Marshall Street, was arrested Monday for possession of a forged instrument in the second degree. Tillman allegedly presented a counterfeit check for $822.15 to Aaron’s. The report does not specify what she was attempting to buy or rent with the check, Busby added.

According to the Talladega County Metro Jail web site, bond had not been set as of Tuesday afternoon.

Possession of a forged instrument in the second degree is a class C felony in Alabama, punishable upon conviction by one year and one day to 10 years in prison.
