Three to be interviewed for Lincoln Council vacancy

LINCOLN -- The City Council interview three candidates seeking to fill the vacant Ward 4 seat next week.

"We established a work session at 2 p.m. Monday, July 28, to interview Angela York, Wanda McCaig and Shelly Barnhart," Lincoln Mayor Bud Kitchin said.

The Ward 4 seat was held by Kurt Kuykendall for many years until his death on July 7.

Kitchin said the council will question each candidate separately, with the interviews expected to take approximately 10 minutes each. The interviews will be held at City Hall.

In other matters Tuesday, the council:

O Appointed Matt White to handle animal control and other duties in the city.

O Approved a resolution granting a 10-year tax abatement to Legacy Cabinets Inc. for a proposed expansion.

O Swore in Jon Cullimore to the Public Park Authority of the Cities of Lincoln and Talladega, which governs TOP Trails recreational park.

O Authorized the mayor to execute an agreement with Precision Concrete Cutting for $1,105 to repair 18 trip hazards on the sidewalks along Magnolia Street from City Hall to the sidewalk’s end near old downtown Lincoln.
