The St. Clair County Department of Human Resources is holding an informational seminar for prospective foster and adoptive parents.

The seminar is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, at the DHR facility, 213 Fox Hollow Blvd., Pell City.

The seminar is intended to raise awareness among prospective individuals who may not realize they qualify to become a foster parent.

“There are a number of widespread misconceptions, such as the belief that foster parents need to own rather than rent their home, need to be married, a certain age, or having prior parenting experience,” said Stephanie Lett, senior social worker at St. Clair County DHR. “The seminar seeks to dispel these misconceptions with a message that shows the love that our local foster youth can bring to the life of an adoptive or foster parent.”

Light refreshments will be served.

For more information call Lett at 205-812-2145 or contact her at Stephanie.Lett@dhr.alabama.gov.
