SYLACAUGA -- A Sylacauga woman was flown by LifeSaver helicopter to University Hospital in Birmingham following a two-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon.

Sylacauga Police Chief Chris Carden said the accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Broadway and East Milton Street.

“The driver of a green Ford Taurus sustained what appeared to be substantial injuries,” he said. “She was entrapped, and the Sylacauga Fire Department extricated her from the vehicle.”

Carden said the other vehicle involved in the accident was a multi-axle military passenger truck. The occupants of that truck were uninjured.

“The Talladega County Sheriff’s Department also assisted us,” Carden said. “We had to call in specialized equipment from Montgomery to upright and tow away the military vehicle.”

Carden said the accident is under investigation by the Sylacauga Police Department.
