The Pell City Library received a grant to help enhance its Story Time program.

"We received a $2,000 grant from Target which will help us with craft supplies, refreshments, books and other things for our Story Time program," said Kelly Cardenas, youth services librarian for the Pell City Library.

Cardenas said Story Time is the first Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m.

"The purpose of Story Time is to instill in young children an early appreciation of books and reading," she said. "During Story Time, children will be able to listen to a storyteller, have a snack and make a special craft or special activity. The grant funding will let us invite special guests such as authors, magicians and musicians to come and perform for the children during these times as well."

Cardenas said the program is open to children of all ages, but geared toward pre-kindergarten children.

"Story Time is great for children of stay-at-home moms, daycare classes and homeschool families," she said. "We really appreciate the grant from Target, which will help us enhance what we offer and help more children come to love books and reading."
