Talladega police are investigating an incident involving the discharge of a firearm, although Monday afternoon no one had been charged with anything and the nature of the crime remained unclear.

According to Capt. Leon Thomas, officers at first responded to a shots fired call early Saturday morning on Allison Mill Road near Waites Road. The incident began as a verbal argument that escalated when of the parties allegedly produced a gun.

As of Monday afternoon, it did not appear that bullets from the gun had hit any people or property, but it was still too early to rule out that conclusion, Thomas said.

Officers did stop a vehicle in connection with the investigation and used Andor, the city’s recently acquired canine officer, to search it.

The search turned up a small bag of what appeared to be marijuana, but no arrests were made in connection with this incident, either.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Talladega Police Department at 256-362-4508 or call the anonymous tip line at 256-299-0011.
