Pell City police are still looking for a white male who was driving a dark, older model pickup truck who was involved in a hit-and-run accident Sunday.

Don Newton, public information officer for the Pell City Police Department, said the accident happened at 12:59 p.m. in front of the Pell City Steakhouse.

“There was a 12-year-old girl crossing Comer Avenue from the steakhouse to the parking lot,” Newton said. “The driver of the pickup turned right off U.S. 231 North onto Comer Avenue, and that’s when he struck the girl.”

Newton said the girl rolled up on top of the hood, and the driver hit his brakes and she rolled off the hood.

“When she rolled off, he drove off, striking the girl again,” Newton said. “This guy was driving either a Chevrolet or GMC.”

Newton said the girl had some bruises and abrasions, but no broken bones.

“She was sent to St. Vincent’s St. Clair for precautionary measures and released later that afternoon,” Newton said.

Newton added that if anyone knows anything about this driver or accident, please call the Pell City Police Department at 205-338-3334.
