Miss Motorsports opens for entries

The Pilot Club of Talladega hosts its 26th anniversary of the Annual Miss Motorsports Hall of Fame Pageant Saturday, July 26 at the Speed Channel Dome at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.

This pageant offers tro phies and awards for each of its eight age divisions, and additionally, a scholar ship for the winner of The Miss Motorsports division.

Pageant winners are often included in commu nity activities and parades throughout the year and each Miss MotorSports has a multitude of other duties relating to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and the Talladega SuperSpeedway.

This year will be extra special as we celebrate 26 years of Miss Motorsports Winners. Winners of the Miss Motorsports compe tition from prior years are Tracey Walker, (1989-90); Jenny Gilliand, (1990-91); Sharie Wade, (1991-92); Chrissy Camp, (1992-93); Casey Crowe, (1993-94); Rhonda Howard, (1994-95); Julie Love, (1995-96); Robbyn Gurley, (1996-97); Valerie Pope, (1997-98); Lori Robinson, (1998-99); Stephanie Hicks (1999-2000); Crissy Holmes, (2000-01); Melissa Dase, (2001-02), Tiffany Hall, (2002-03); Amber Reid, (2003-04); Stacey Diane Hill, (2004-05); Tyler Snyder, (2005-06; Lindsey Nicole Riley, (2006-07); Haleigh Stidham, (2007-08); Brooklyn Wesley, (2008-09); Lee Ann Fuller, (2009-2010); LaQuacious Garrett, (2010-2011); Madison Pody,(2011-2012); Kelcie Smith, (2012-2013); and Ashley Payton, (2013-2014.)

“We hope all these pre vious Miss Motorsports pageant winners will join us for our 26th pag eant,” said Cookie Adair, Talladega Pilot Club mem ber. “We are asking the public to help us get the invitation out to our past winners. As usual, several of these winners will be returning to participate in various functions of the pageant, including Julie Love-Templeton (1995-1996) and Amber Reid Reynolds (2003-2004).

Contestants in the Miss Motorsports Pageant are welcome in all eight age divisions. The entry fee is $80, with an additional fee of $10 for the optional Miss Photogenic entry in each category.

The events of the day begin at 11a.m. with Tiny Miss, (ages 3-4); Petite Miss, (ages 5-6); and the Little Miss Division, (ages 7-8).

Starting at 1:30 p.m., the Pretty Miss Division, (ages 9-10); Junior Miss (ages 11-12); and Teen Miss (ages 13-14) will be held.

Interviews for Miss Motorsports contestants will be held beginning at 4 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m., the interviews for Young Miss (ages 15-17) will begin.

Admission, programs along with pageant t-shirts and pins will be on sale during the pageant.

The 2013 Winners of each of the eight age groups are asked to return and participate by help ing with the awards and crowning portion of their age division.

The Pilot Club of Talladega especially invites the community and friends of the late Les Stephens to attend the July 26, 2014 pageant which will be ded icated to his memory as a special Pilot Club friend. The Stephens family will be recognized for their friend ships and partnership with the Pilot Club of Talladega and its activities.

Music (CDs) recorded by Stephens will also be available.

Registration forms are also available at a number of locations in Anniston, Lincoln, Talladega, Pell City, Childersburg and Sylacauga, including the Hall of Fame, both the Talladega and Sylacauga Chambers of Commerce, Joyce’s Formal Wear of Hueytown and Glitz & Glamour in Pell City as well as many other loca tions. The Pilot Club of Talladega is part of an inter national civic organization, Pilot International, whose main focus is brain-related disorders.

Members have been providing community ser vice to the Talladega area since 1939.

The Miss Motorsports Pageant is the club’s major fundraiser. Pilot Club president Nancy Lehe and all the Pilot mem bers encourage parents, friends, past winners and the community to sup port the Miss Motorsports Pageant.
