Officers from the Talladega County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 22-year-old Sylacauga man Wednesday morning on a charge of theft of property in the first degree.

According to Investigator Josh Tubbs, authorities apprehended Steven Andrew Mikovits on charges stemming from an incident in April on Back Street in Bon Air. Mikovits is accused of stealing a Suzuki four-wheeler.

“The vehicle has been recovered and returned to the owner,” Tubbs said.

Mikovits was transported to the Talladega County Jail.

District Judge Ryan Rumsey set bail for Mikovits at $5,000.

Theft of property in the first degree is a Class B felony in Alabama, carrying a possible sentence of two to 20 years upon conviction.
