ASD’s Anthony Scott rushed for 135 yard on 14 carries to lead the Silent Warriors to a 38-24 victory over the Waterloo Cougars on Friday night.
ASD took the opening drive 60 yards, which included a 27-yard touchdown run by Scott. ASD successfully converted the two-point conversion run to take an 8-0 lead.
The Warriors’ second touchdown came after Waterloo turned the ball over on downs. Scott again scored, this time a 38-yard touchdown run down the Waterloo sideline. The two-point conversion run failed, bringing the score to 14-0.
After the first quarter, ASD racked up 110 yards running and held Waterloo to only seven total yards.
The second quarter was the like first, with domination from ASD. After Waterloo fumbled, ASD’s Scott went up the middle of the defense with 43-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion failed, bringing ASD’s lead to 20-0.
The very next possession, Waterloo’s quarterback was intercepted by Payton Stults for a 53-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion run failed, and ASD led 26-0. Later in the quarter, Joshua Edwards scored on a 28-yard run, bringing ASD’s lead to 32-0. Total yards, ASD 213, Waterloo 30.
ASD dominated the third quarter including an eight-yard run from Eddie Thomas to take a 38-0 lead.
In the fourth quarter, Waterloo made the game interesting. After four fumbles from ASD and an onside kick recovery from Waterloo, Waterloo running back Aaron Crunk rushed 85 yards for two touchdowns to cut the lead to 38-16. A 30-yard touchdown pass from Trey Palmer to Kendall Wood cut the lead to 38-24 late in the fourth. ASD recovered the onside kick to run out the clock.
ASD had 363 yards total offense in the game, and Waterloo, 197. Aaron Crunk led Waterloo on offense with 115 total yards
