Bishop Johnnie L. Woods Jr. answered his call to holiness after receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost on June 23, 1976, and began ministering the gospel on July 4 of the same year. He evangelized and preached the gospel to the community and abroad for several years before joining the God’s Temple A.O.H. Church of God under the Pastorate of Elder Dollie M. Woods in Ragland.
In 1982, Bishop Jasper Roby appointed him pastor to the Wayfaring A.O.H. Church of God in Gadsden, where he pastored for three years. Roby later appointed him to Joyful Noise A.O.H. Church of God in Sylacauga, where he was ordained elder in 1986 and has been pastor for more than 31 years. Bishop G.W. Ayers appointed him Overseer of District 28th in 2001 and to be one of the chosen for the Bishopric in 2011. He was consecrated Bishop in the AOH Church of God on March 15, 2013.
Woods is a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He has been married to Mother Yolanda Woods for over 43 years and they have seven children (six living), of which five are anointed ministers of the Gospel. He has 13 grandchildren and one on the way. He is a graduate of the A.O.H. Theological Seminary, a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and has earned a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Friends International Christian University. He is a leader with a desire for all people to be saved and enjoy living through our Savior Jesus Christ.
