Police are investigating a burglary at a local funeral home, according to incident and offense reports on file at the Talladega Police Department.

The owners of Midway Memory Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home on Alabama 21 South reported the break-in Tuesday morning. According to Capt. John McCoy, there was damage to an exterior door to the main building. The only thing reported missing from inside the building was an undetermined amount of money. Nothing else appeared to have been taken.

The break-in occurred sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

McCoy said a suspect in the case had been identified to investigators, but as of Thursday afternoon, no arrests had been made in the case.

Burglary in the third degree is a class C felony in Alabama, punishable upon conviction by one year and one day to 10 years in prison.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Talladega Police Department at 256-362-4508 or call the city’s anonymous tip line at 256-299-0011.
