TALLADEGA -- Students from the Alabama School for the Deaf in Talladega are learning the significance of helping others in need.

On Friday, the ASD Class of 2019 will play host to a community yard sale from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the front lawn of Johnson Hall.

Proceeds from the sale will go to benefit the Red Door Kitchen in Talladega.

“We are planning to donate $500 of our sales to them,” ASD English teacher Lynn Dunn said.

According to Dunn, ASD has played host to a yard sale for the last few years.

“The students are excited and have been working all week collecting and organizing the items,” she said.

ASD is encouraging community involvement and has been accepting donations throughout the week. Dunn said this will be one of two fundraisers the class will spearhead.

“The yard sale is our community fundraiser for the fall,” Dunn said. “In the spring, the class will have an additional fundraiser for the school -- which goes towards helping school events like the prom.”
