The Leeds Green Wave fell to 3-8 on the season following losses to Homewood and Calera.Against Homewood, the Green Wave lost 60-43. However, David Murray did score 17 points in the loss.
The Calera game Friday was much closer as the Green Wave lost 80-75. Murray again pumped in 17 points. Other Green Wave players in double figures were Tony Threatt, Willie Kimble and Mike Laster, with 14 points each.
Leeds was back on the hardwood Tuesday night at Talladega County-Central.
Head coach Mike Turner attributes the slow start by his team to trying to get football players acclimated to basketball.
“We have played 5A Erwin twice,” Turner said. “Homewood has lost only two games all season, and Calera has only one loss and will be ranked in the top 10 once the polls come out.”
Turner said come January, his team will be able to compete with any 3A team in the state.
Following the game against TCC Tuesday, the Green Wave is scheduled to play in the Spain Park Jaguar Classic that starts today.
