If there is any doubt that St. Clair County is open for business, economic development officials can erase it.In its place, they’ll provide convincing statistics of new job creations and investments other counties would envy over a decade.
In the past two years, though, 1,300 new jobs have come to the county. In 2006, more than half of those jobs were created with companies investing $92.3 million in St. Clair in new industry and through expanding existing ones.
With the revenue they generate, it means more money for schools, for cities and for infrastructure improvements across the county. And that translates into a higher quality of life for all county citizens.
Now economic development officials say they will turn their attention to retail recruitment, helping expand the offerings throughout the county. They also will focus on infrastructure and work force training.
It is a successful road map for the future, and we tip our hat to the Economic Development Council and all involved in providing more opportunities here at home.
