Tremeria Britt scored 17 points to lead Oxford to a 57-43 win over a gritty Faith Christian squad Thursday.

Faith Christian (2-6) hung with Jackets (3-1) before Makayla Kidd poured in 11 of her 13 points in the second half.

Justyce Smith added seven points and nine rebounds for Oxford. Anna Bolton and Quameria Britt added six points apiece.

“We did a good job of pushing the ball up the floor against them in the second half,” first-year Oxford head coach Melissa Bennett said. “They are such a well-coached team.”

Sydnee Johnson led Faith Christian with 11 points, and Logan Boyd added 10 points. Emily Sills battled her way for nine points and seven rebounds. Kristin Covington chipped in eight points and seven rebounds.

“I was proud of our effort tonight,” Faith Christian head coach Bradley Dawson said. “We got a little out of control at times and we missed some shots we need to make. We have a lot of ninth and 10th graders playing that are having to learn how to play fast, but slow down when nothing is there.”

Oxford will host Gadsden City today, and Faith Christian will travel to face Jacksonville Christian on Tuesday.
