Alabama snagged its quarterback for the 2015 recruiting cycle as four-star Blake Barnett announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Wednesday.
Fresh off a visit to Tuscaloosa last week, Barnett, a Corona, Calif., native, picked the Tide over Oregon in a video on Bleacher Report.
At 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, Barnett is rated as the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback and a four-star prospect by 247Sports composite rankings. He recently decommitted from Notre Dame. Barnett said he “definitely” doesn’t think the transition from California to Alabama will be a tough one for him.
“When I went down there, I absolutely fell in love. With the coaches, with the school itself,” Barnett told Bleacher Report. “I think Alabama is the place for me, and I think that it’s the place that’s going to build me as a person and an athlete. I think that’s going to develop me the best and make me most successful in life.”
Barnett said he met with Tide coach Nick Saban “about six times in a matter of about three days.”
“He thought I’d fit the program very well,” Barnett said. “He thinks he can see me succeed in their program and scholastically as well.”
Shortly after the video was posted, Barnett tweeted “Roll Tide” from his personal account. Several of Alabama’s 2015 commits also tweeted to welcome Barnett to the class.
The Santiago High School product gives Alabama 19 commits for its 2015 class.
