College baseball JSU, Alabama make NCAA baseball tournament

Jacksonville State and Alabama have earned bids to the NCAA baseball tournament. The tournament opens Friday with 16 four-team double-elimination regionals.

The Gamecocks (36-25) will play in the Oxford Regional at Swayze Field on the Ole Miss campus. JSU, the Ohio Valley Conference tournament champions, will face the host Rebels (41-18) on Friday at 7 p.m. Georgia Tech (36-25) and Washington (39-15-1), the other two teams in the regional field, will face off at 3 p.m. Friday.

The winner of the tournament will play in in the best-of-three Super Regional round.

Alabama (34-22) will play in the Tallahassee Regional at Dick Howser Stadium on the Florida State campus.

The Crimson Tide (34-22) will play Kennesaw State at 11 a.m. Friday. FSU (43-15) and Georgia Southern (39-21) will meet at 5 p.m.

Alabama is one of 10 teams from the Southeastern Conference, which is the most ever by a single league.

Oregon State is the No. 1 national seed for the tournament, followed in order by Florida, Virginia, Indiana, Florida State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas Christian and LSU.
