TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama headed inside to continue its preseason practice work on Thursday. At 95 degrees in Tuscaloosa, the heat is very unforgiving.

With the season getting closer, the media's viewing window of practice will be shorter. The media only watched one period of practice (7-8 minutes) today.

Here are some takeaways:

--Offensive lineman Dominick Jackson (ankle) participated in individual drills. Jackson watched drills during the media's viewing window on Wednesday.

--Tight end Kurt Freitag (turf toe) is still out.

--Defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson (knee) moved well during the limited viewing window. Robinson should be a full go for the season opener.

--The first offensive line group has held strong through preseason practice. From left tackle to right tackle: Cam RobinsonArie KouandjioRyan KellyAlphonse Taylor and Austin Shepherd

--There Tide mainly worked on fundamentals within their position groups. The quarterbacks practiced throwing screen passes with pressure coming.

The wide receivers spent time getting off press coverage and catching short passes.

The running backs continued to carry two balls and worked on agility drills.

The cornerbacks practice bump-and-run coverage while the safeties worked on shedding blocks and getting to the ball carrier.

Up next: Tide coach Nick Saban, tight end Brian Vogler and defensive end Dalvin Tomlinson are scheduled to speak with reporters following practice.
