Bowden to speak at QB Club

Coaching legend Bobby Bowden will lead off the Calhoun County Quarterback Club speakers schedule Aug. 20 at Anniston Country Club.

Social hour is 5:15 p.m., followed by a meal and the speaker at 6:45.

Also scheduled to speak are JSU athletics director Warren Koegel (Aug. 27), former Alabama running back Bobby Humphrey (Sept. 10), sports writer and novelist Doug Segrest (Sept. 17), former Alabama quarterback Tyler Watts (Sept. 24), former Auburn defensive back Alvin Briggs (Oct. 1), Ohatchee native and five-time state championship football coach Rush Propst (Oct. 8), former Auburn player Gusty Yearout (Oct. 15) and Yahoo! Sports/Rivals.com recruiting analyst Andrew Bone (Oct. 22).

The Oxford Quarterback Club starts its meetings Sept. 10 with former Alabama and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Brodie Croyle in the leadoff slot.

The club meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Western Sizzlin’ in Oxford.

The rest of the speaker lineup includes former Alabama and NFL coach Joe Pendry (Sept. 17), Auburn sideline reporter Quentin Riggins (Sept. 24), former Southern Miss and LSU coach Curley Hallman (Oct. 1), Alabama Sports Foundation executive director Gene Hallman (Oct. 8), Birmingham radio host Rachel Barbieu (Oct. 15), NFL replay official Ronnie Bayne (Oct. 22) and Auburn radio voice Rod Bramblett (Oct. 29).
