I have posted this where-ever possible: I want to get my point across:
Dear Anniston Star, I am posting on this blog to share my personal feelings of how the State of Alabama can allow a slap on the wrist for Murder. A murder that was carried out in the sense of a vigilante killing. My cousin, Marrio Dobbins was murdered, shot 9 times on October 27, 2007 because of here-say. He was murdered based on the premis of a lie. His accusars, one of whom has already took a plea of 20 years (he only has to serve 85%, so that makes him around 46 when he gets out of prison) is currently in Bibb County Correctional Facility. He is getting three meals a day, a warm cot and educational opportunities to rehabilitate. The second accuser, Eldriecus LaShon Elston, turned himself in and is now out on bail. It pains us to know that the state of Alabama has deemed it to have done their job in the prosecution of this crime.
It baffels me to know that a person can get more time selling drugs or committing robbery than taking a life of another human being. It sickens me to know that Marrio was gunned down on a public street, shot with multiple gun shot wounds (they intended to kill him and accomplished what they set out to do) and the sentence for the first shooter who received a plea of 20 years, oh I’m sorry, I mean 17 years (according to the Department of Correction’s records, his release date is scheduled for 10/24/2027).
Marrio was loved by many, he was not feared. He did not deserve this fate. My biggest dissapointment is the fact the the State of Alabama thinks, based on Marrio’s record that the plea of 20 was a good deal. BS!!!
Try telling that to an ever grieving Mother, Sister, Brother oh, let us not forget his Children. My heart breaks.
I am asking for the outpouring of the community to speak out against this murder. Don’t allow the others who were involved in the murder of Marrio to skate through the system. Any witnesses who can place others in the car that October evening, please come forward.
The saddest part about it is, for both accusers so far, have had smirks on their faces while in court as if this is something to be proud of. My question is “what is so funny”?
