Cash wins GRMC award

GADSDEN – Misty Cash, a registered nurse at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, has been named the 2013 Patient Choice Award winner. Cash, a former Employee of the Month at the hospital, received the award on May 16, 2013, during a ceremony at the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts. The Patient Choice Award allows former and current patients to nominate nurses who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Cash received several nominations for the honor. “Common themes noted (in nominations) were that Misty “always” exhibited genuine compassion and concern for her patients and their families,”  said GRMC’s Chief Nursing Officer Donna Nicholson. “One patient was a retired nurse of 50 years whose daughter voiced that her mom looked for the best and the worst in nurses; however, she could find no wrong in the care that Misty provided during her stay.  GRMC is fortunate to have the very best nurses working here who make such a difference in the lives they touch every day.” Cash has worked on the orthopedics floor at GRMC since August 2012. “Misty has been a great asset,” said Department Director April McElroy. “Her vibrant and energetic personality has become contagious  not only with the staff, but with her patients and their families.  I am very proud to have Misty as a relief charge nurse on our unit.” For being named Patient Choice Award winner, Cash received a plaque and check for $500. Other nurses nominated for the award were Regina Brewer, Joanna Capes, Cynetta Carlisle, Bart Clapp, Heather Davenport, Faith Espy,  Joanie Harrelson, Tiffany Hartline, Luiz Juan, Carla Malone, Keith Ollis, Laura Pearce, Bret Sanders, Ashton Witt and Erin Woodrow.
