Payroll back up at state’s three largest universities

The state’s three largest universities were forced to cut payroll to accommodate a nearly 10 percent proration hit in 2010. 

But with proration off the table for fiscal year 2011, records for the first three months of the latest budget year show the University of Alabama, Auburn University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham have increased payroll by as much as 10 percent.
