And this little piggy came to Alabama. Al.com is reporting that the state has moved up to 14th nationally on the list of received earmarks. Alabama placed 16th on this list last year.

WASHINGTON -- Although the overall amount of politically directed "pork" spending dropped this fiscal year, Alabama and Mississippi both moved up in state-by-state rankings, a watchdog group's annual tally shows

After ranking 16th last year, Alabama advanced to 14th, with the state collecting at least $242.3 million in earmarks, or about $51 per person.

Nationally, pork spending totaled $16.5 billion, compared to $19.6 billion last year, the report says.
