The Clanton Advertiser reports that Maplesville has an amnesty program for more than 700 fines that are owed.
If the individuals will come in and pay 25 percent of what they owe, the town will recall the warrant and set them up with a payment plan to help clean their record. The program will last for one month from April 19 to May 21.
"There are a lot of people out there that are having to dodge the police in hopes they don't get stopped and picked up on an old warrant," Wallace said. "This is going to be their one time opportunity to get these old fines cleaned up so they can relax and stop worrying about getting stopped."
