At least Anniston doesn't have the only city council in the area that has drama. The Gadsden Times reports that Gadsden councilman Robert Avery is upset that his travel and training expenses are being looked at.

“They’re investigating my travel,” he said. “I travel more than anybody on this council, and I’m going to continue to travel. That’s why (expletive deleted) Bill Stewart isn’t here this morning because he knew that I was going to talk about it. When I do things, I do it up front. He’s too (expletive deleted) to be here and stand up to what’s going on ...”

“And tell Chief Crouch if he wants to get into a ... contest with me, he needs to drink a lot of water,” Avery continued. “Now, he wants to pick on travel because he knows I travel a lot. He wants to bring attention to my travel. Policy is in place. The mayor is going to handle it, and I don’t care what the chief says.”
