Federal judge may ease electronic recording requirement for 2 indicted in Alabama bingo case

A fed­eral judge will decide if a state senator and a lobbyist indicted in a federal vote buying case will have to audio record all of their con­versations with elected offi­cials while they are awaiting trial.

Federal prosecutors agreed to lift the recording provision, which was a condition of release on bond, after defendants argued it
was too cumbersome. A federal judge will hold a tele­phone conference today to discuss the proposed change.
