Rep. Micky Hammon, R-Decatur, was elected today as House majority leader, defeating Republicans Mike Ball of Madison and Greg Canfield of Vestavia Hills.

Hammon, 53, an electrical contractor, emerged the winner after a secret ballot taken in a closed-door caucus meeting.
