The money already was in the bank by the time Superintendent Ric Ayer advised the Albertville City Schools Board of Education that the system had received a payment from its insurance company for damage suffered during the EF-3 tornado that struck the city April 24.
Less than a week after the tornado struck, Ayer said the estimate of damage to the schools was $10.8 million.
