V5 Wireless Speaker by Wren Sound — $399

Take one look at the Wren V5 Wireless Speaker and you'll forget all about that ugly ’90s boom box. Wren Sound's latest speaker system packs all the punch of a normal music player while wrapped in a stylish wood finish.

Connection strength is always the biggest concern of any Bluetooth device. The V5 passes this test with flying colors — I was able to play music without any static or interruption between multiple levels of my house, as Wren estimates you'll be able to move up to 150 feet away from the router or access point.

The unit I reviewed had AirPlay capabilities for wireless stream from an iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad. Android fans can get a Play-Fi model that will work with their devices. A USB and AUX jack allow you to hook up additional devices to the speaker.

A neat feature of the AirPlay and Play-Fi versions is the ability to charge your device while it is playing. Simply hook the device up through the USB port and you'll never worry about running out of juice.

The AirPlay version of the speaker requires an 802.11 b/g/n compatible router to function over wireless. You can always directly plug-in your device to avoid the need for a connection.

The V5's $399 price tag will automatically kill the buzz for those looking for a cheap speaker experience. However, anyone searching for an elegant speaker with high-quality audio capabilities would be hard-pressed to find a better option.

HD Body Worn Video Camera by MeCam — $49.99 (4 GB), $59.99 (8 GB), $69.99 (16 GB)

On first glance, the MeCam wearable camera appears to be straight out of a spy movie. This hands-free camera was designed to capture everything going on in your life without getting in the way.

The lightweight device can be pinned to a shirt or worn as part of a necklace — the tools for both options are included with the camera.

The MeCam’s coolest feature is its ability to shoot both video and photographs with the same device. An innovative LED light system will allow the user to instantly know what mode they are on. The video side of the device shoots in the high-definition resolution of 720p. Photos also look great with the 5-megapixel still camera.

Uploading content is really easy with the MeCam. Each camera comes with a USB cord that attaches the device to the computer. A removable drive message will appear and you can pull video clips off with a simple drag. The SD and micro-SD card can also be removed and inserted into a computer.

MeCam was designed for people with an active lifestyle. The camera handles great when going for a run or when playing a sport with friends. It's important to position the camera in a way that will best capture the action, which is fairly easy given the two options. I prefer pinning the camera to my shirt when doing anything active.

MeCam comes in your choice of five different colors: black, white, lime green, electric blue and fuchsia.

Many of us have a camera on us at all times now thanks to the technology present in our smartphones. I feel the MeCam does a good job picking up where phone cameras slack. The fairly cheap entry price and multi-function capability make it an easy product to
