Anniston police this morning were investigating a burglary in which a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend stabbed her Friday night.

According to Anniston police Capt, Allen George, the 37-year-old victim heard a knock on the front door of her home on the 1600 block of Moore Avenue around 7:35 p.m.

George said that as the victim was going to answer the door, she found her ex-boyfriend, 40, standing in her living room.

The victim told police her front door had been unlocked when the suspect entered her home, but that the ex-boyfriend didn’t have permission to be there, the captain said.

George said that when the victim told the suspect to leave, he stabbed her in the leg with a knife.

George said the victim fled to a neighbor’s house, and the neighbor took her to Regional Medical Center for treatment. The captain said the report did not say where the suspect went after the incident.

According to George, the victim’s injury required six stitches, but her condition is now stable.

The suspect could face two felony charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree domestic violence, according to a police report.
