A woman was charged with robbery Wednesday after she allegedly stole from a local store and shoved an employee.

Cheryl Stacey Howell, 45, of Anniston, was charged with third-degree robbery, a felony, according to a police report.

Howell was allegedly caught concealing items in her purse by employees at the Dollar General on Noble Street on March 13, Anniston Lt. Fred Forsythe said.

The employees tried to stop Howell when she reached the front of the store, Forsythe said. According to Forsythe, Howell shoved an employee and pushed another away. When she reached the parking lot, Howell got into her car and an employee was behind it still trying to stop her, the lieutenant said.

Howell started driving backward toward the employee, but no injuries were reported, Forsythe said.

Howell was identified through witness accounts and store video. She was arrested Wednesday at a home in Weaver.

Howell was released from the Anniston City Jail Wednesday on a $5,000 bond. A court date is set for April 15.
